The central government has started an in-depth investigation of the data of ration card holders with the help of the Food and Public Distribution Department. In this investigation, it was revealed that there are about 1.7 crore people who were taking advantage of the free ration scheme despite not being eligible.

In the newly prepared list, it was revealed that about 96 lakh people are paying income tax, but were still taking free ration. At the same time, 17 lakh people were found to be owners of four-wheelers and about 5 lakh people were taking free ration even while doing good jobs in companies. After such irregularities were exposed, the government took strict action and removed the names of all these people from the ration card list.

This decision of the government may trouble many people in the beginning, but in reality this step will be a big support for those families who are completely dependent on this scheme in their day-to-day life.
